2025 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update

Due December, 2025

The Comprehensive Plan is here! Wednesday, August 27, 2025, begins a 60-day Public Comment Period where members of the public will be able to review a draft version of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan, and associated development regulations, and provide feedback to the City. Following the Public Comment Period, the Sumas City Council will hold a public hearing on October 27, 2025 at Sumas City Hall at 7:00pm to discuss these amendments. Please remember that these documents are drafts. They are not final and are not binding. Linked below are those documents:

An update of the City of Sumas Comprehensive Land Use Plan is due December, 2025! Below are some resources that will help understand what this means and how to get involved. Public documents related to the update will be posted to this page as they are released.

To stay more informed about Sumas’ progress during this Periodic Update Process, residents and interested citizens are welcome to attend Planning Commission meetings in which the City discusses this update with members of the public.
